Cannibal & The Headhunters rose to international fame with their classic hit “Land of a Thousand Dances,” a song that became one of the defining anthems of 1960s rock and roll. The band made music history when The Beatles personally requested them to open their 1965 U.S. tour, launching Cannibal & The Headhunters onto the national stage. They went on to share stage with legendary acts including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Righteous Brothers, The Byrds, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, The Beach Boys and many more.
The current line-up includes original drummer Robert Zapata, lead singer Charlie Munoz, David Jaramillo (vocals), Dave Goldstein (keys), George Garcia (bass), Robert Robles (guitar).
The Band continues to sell out shows, play on the Legends Cruise, and back artists that appear with the band, such as Johnny Townsend (Sanford/Townsend Band), Dennis Tufano (The Buckinghams), and Mark Adrian (The Standells). In the recent past they also backed a who's who of rock, including Denny Laine (Wings/Moody Blues), Joey Molland (Badfinger), Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple), and Chuck Negron (Three Dog Night). On April 4, 2026, the band will be inducted into the California Music Entertainment Hall of Fame.

“Consider how Cannibal & the Headhunters upstaged the Beatles as an opening act at the Hollywood Bowl in 1965. By doing so, they helped shape Chicano rock. You can trace a line from Cannibal & the Headhunters’ historic performance to Los Lobos to Los Tigres del Norte to Fuerza Regida.” - Will Heast
“The show was amazing. Charlie Munoz had the audience participate in the singing. It’s always nice to hear music that takes you back to sweet memories. Thank you Robert (Zapata) for keeping it alive.”
